Emily Josefina Velasquez, a graduating senior from Mozambique, chose the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa for its culture of environmental stewardship and community-centered science. At UH Mānoa, she immersed herself in research across multiple disciplines and found a sense of community and belonging.
