Early this month, #CopernicusEU's #ImageOfTheDay shared two spectacular #Sentinel2 images of tidal dynamics at France's Passage du Gois: an island causeway completely flooded by the tide every day.
Here's some quick outputs from our #DEAIntertidal coastal elevation workflow over the same area!

#Sentinel2 captures remarkable tidal patterns in Roebuck Bay, Western Australia. The bayβs huge tidal range creates extensive mudflats and fascinating eddy structures near shallow sandbanks.

Because we have access to many years of freely available satellite data, it's also possible to compare coastal change and track the flow of sediment over time: for example, areas that are gaining (blue) or losing (red) sediment between 2021 and 2024:
Weβre excited to release the first version of our (Geo)Parquet Viewer. It supports both GeoParquet and Parquet files.
We hope it's a useful tool for the initial exploration of Parquet datasets and are looking forward to your feedback.

The Passage du Gois, which links the island of Noirmoutier to the mainland in western France, is an intertidal causeway regularly submerged at high tide, restricting access to and from the island.
