Yup. LA County is a machine and the machine very much likes things just the way they are. You need to break the machine for anything to get meaningfully better.

I suspect the main issue is that Karen Bass was endorsed by basically everyone. Most of city council, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Pelosi, Schiff, Padilla. LA County Dems.
If basically every democrat says to vote for her, that's very persuasive to a lot of people!
