I’m not even sure he believed it, either. It was just momentary internal political advantage. The same thing he did on Brexit. A glib, shallow, *silly* lightweight of a man.
Problem is: he did it. And outside the firewall, you are mingling with and listening to the maniacs. Look where that leads.
Nothing I have seen since shakes my conviction that you can probably mark the moment the UK skipped the rails as the day Cameron took the Tories out of the EPP.
It was the moment the UK centre right stopped saying no to the headbangers and crossed the firewall. From then, it was only going one way.
Not to detract from the argument here but I think lots of things feel higgledy piggledy at the moment.
