The sad thing is the world of information was always open to you, and a while ago social policy was to give you lots of possibilities and Vergils (libraries, community colleges, activist spaces) to explore it. AI is a technical solution to a social problem, and as most such solutions it’s a sham.
To me one of the weirdest things about AI is how it is simultanously impressive and disappointing, interesting and boring, potential tool to educate and dumb down. It promises to open up the world of information to you but then locks you up in the echo chamber of your own making.
