Finally! After 9 years as Department Chair, scrabbling and scrounging for resources, I have managed to upgrade the department to having BINOCULAR compound microscopes for all our labs. Can't believe it took that long.

My campus just had to make across-the-board 7% budget cuts (after making cuts last year as well) yet UMS found $1.39 million for a 2-year contract with OpenAI.
My students do a sci comm project where they take an idea from class and come up with a communication piece to explain the topic to non-scientists.

FYI avoid Springer Nature as much as possible. It's pioneering new avenues for slop, such as this book, translated with AI: link.springer.com/book/10.1007.... Complete with an AI cover, which of course is nonsense. Also includes a 4 page chapter on millipedes which includes a misidentified photo.
