And for the first time in 30 years, D.C.'s congressional delegate seat will have a new face after Eleanor Holmes Norton decided to not run again.
We profiled the 5 candidates, which includes two D.C. councilmembers, below:

We also wrote about the special election for the other At-Large seat (held by Kenyan McDuffie until he started his run for mayor).
Whoever wins will serve the rest of his term, which ends in Jan '27. They'll have to run again in Nov. to serve a full 4 year term.

We've written up candidate profiles for the highly contested seats. The profiles offer glimpses at who the candidates are, their political origin stories, & why they're running.
We started with Ward 1, where 5 candidates are running to replace CM Nadeau.

Our next set of profiles were on the first-timers running for D.C. mayor: Rini Sampath, Gary Goodweather, and Hope Soloman.

We also interviewed all 9 Democratic candidates vying for an open At-Large seat, after Councilmember Anita Bonds announced she wasn't running for another term.

Early voting in D.C. started yesterday, but @51st.news has been helping break down the election for months now.
You can see it all on our DCision2026 page, but I'm pulling out a few of my favorites. 🧵

As I finished this story, I was visiting MD farms whose produce went to communities & food banks, learning from experts about our complex food system, & the impact food policy can have.
Here’s a glimpse at what food policy in DC has looked like, & why advocates want to save the office focused on it
