Today we say sorry. Sorry for the horrors of the past inflicted on First Nations families and sorry that after 29 years since the Bringing Them Home Report - successive governments have failed to take action and implement the recommendations.
Sorry is more than a word or a sentiment, it is action.
Today as the media continues their obsession with Pauline Hanson, giving her a national platform to speak hate - I have a message to First Nations, migrant communities, trans communities, asylum seekers and all people of colour in this country.
The Greens are with you.
If you’re angry watching what’s happening with One Nation and angry at the major parties who have sat by and let this happen - then I have a message for you.
We will not let this become the norm.
We know what we need to do. Fighting back starts with coming together. We need to have conversations, a lot of them, face to face with people.
While One Nation divides, we are bringing people together.
Tomorrow Travis Lovett will complete his final leg of the National Walk for Truth at Parliament House in Canberra.
