My thinking is that the mealworms and suet also attracts the jackdaws who are opportunistic and will grab any bird that gets too close. My garden has become a bonus for them. So I’m going to let the small birds disperse until the fledglings are independent.

Western Jackdaws have a dark side! Switching to feeding suet and mealworms as per RSPB advice has brought in lots of Starlings, Sparrows, Titmice and their fledglings. It's also brought in Jackdaws who are capturing the fledglings 😱 Feeders put away 'til October. 🪶 #birdingwales
