The buttons are being monitored for their effectiveness and for how many people use them. We encourage you to test a bike wave button out for yourself! You can find these buttons at - N Interstate Ave. and Willamette Ave. - N Interstate Ave. and Dekum St. - SE Holgate Blvd. and 88th Ave.
To use one, cyclists simply approach the intersection, give a quick wave to a small button, the button will beep to confirm it’s detected a person on a bike, and soon, cross traffic will stop while the bike rider continues through the intersection.
We’re piloting a new way to detect bike riders as they approach busy intersections around town with bike wave buttons! Thanks to PBOT interns Daniel and Osvaldo for explaining how they work in this short video: www.instagram.com/reels/DZaigW...
