This is a pretty big misread of Democratic hostility towards the political left, both options are, it only makes sense if you think Matt Yglesias or Ezra Klein are representative (which I don’t think they are, but maybe I’m wrong)

fine to think "progressives are killing us because they are blissfully unaware of and alien to Real American Culture" or to think "the left is too unforgiving of centrist Dems, with whom they must ally given the virulence of Real American Culture" but you should probably pick a lane
