Rogers essentially extended the life of NHL on CBC as a favour (one where they still benefited financially). I don't think CBC got much out of it either. I get the history and nostalgia but there wasn't a reason for either side to continue.

I don't necessarily disagree with this. Taxes should probably only be applied to an item once.
However, used car prices skyrocketed due to supply from a surge of sales during the peak of covid. Artificially lowering cost would only hurt supply and thus cost.
