Every semester I inevitably have to tell a first year student that a college course is in fact not like an AP class. I fully believe AP classes are grifts (College Board in general is) and used as social capital in colleges and parents’ social groups. It’s just a way to scam kids

Colleges are unique institutions w specific profiles and faculty who are tailored to their mission, history, and resources. This is as true of each school’s core curriculum as it is of its upper level offerings. Imagining that an AP course would equally substitute for every school is plain wrong.
