SOAR supports BC Poverty Reduction's call for targeted income support for people fleeing intimate partner violence. Financial instability is one of the greatest barriers survivors face when trying to leave unsafe situations, and income support is a critical part of ensuring they can do so safely.

Almost half (44%) of Canadian women experience intimate partner violence (IPV), and many will sustain brain injury (BI) as a result. Yet IPV-BI often goes unrecognized and unsupported. At SOAR, we explore, educate, and empower—because what is missed cannot be treated. #IPVBI #FactFriday
As many as 92% of women who experience intimate partner violence may also sustain a brain injury, yet many professionals still aren’t equipped to recognize and respond. We’re recruiting subject matter experts to help build Canada’s response to IPV-BI. 💜 📅 Apply by June 19 🔗 soarproject.ca/team
At SOAR, we know violence, trauma, and systemic inequities are deeply connected to the ongoing harms of colonization. We are committed to listening, learning, and working alongside Indigenous voices and leadership toward healing, reconciliation, and safer futures. #NIHM2026
For many survivors of intimate partner violence, brain injury isn’t a one-time event. Repeated assaults and strangulation can cause lasting impacts. Brain Injury Awareness Month may be halfway through, but SOAR is just getting started. Because injury doesn’t end when awareness month does. #IPVBI

This month's Research Roundup explores the stigma surrounding brain injury caused by intimate partner violence and how it affects survivors' healing and recovery. Reference to the full article at the end of the video. #ResearchRoundup #BrainInjury #IntimatePartnerViolence #Stigma #IPVBI
June is Pride Month! 2SLGBTQIA+ folx face disproportionately high rates of intimate partner violence, and are more likely to suffer brain injury as a result of the violence, an intersection that remains largely invisible and underserved especially within this community. #PrideMonth #IPVBIAwareness
