Current side-project: seeing if I can get a Dexcom-like CGM UI on a tiny $20 watch, so my son doesn’t have to carry his devices with him on the playground. tldr: it works! but battery life is probably far too short to make it work as a watch. An e-ink display might work better. #t1d
Ported to the Pebble Time 2: apps.repebble.com/t1000-cgm-co...
Really liking the PT2's color and higher resolution!
I wrote about the process of building a T1D smartwatch from scratch for my son: andrewchilds.com/posts/buildi...
Over the weekend I ported the smartwatch software from my custom T1D smartwatch to the new Pebble 2 Duo. I'm enjoying the always-on e-paper screen, however it can be challenging to read, especially in low light conditions. github.com/andrewchilds...
What's nice about the Pebble is that because the watch never loses BLE pairing with the phone, I can go into settings on the watch and back to force a refresh, which takes only a second. With my own smartwatch I had to bring the iOS app into the foreground every so often to get it to pair again.
