One of MANY things I love about the 1952 Finnish folk horror movie, White Reindeer, is the "witch" retains her traditional ambiguity. She's got abilities and traits that seem vampirish, and she's got tons of were-stuff going on. She doesn't fit into a Hollywood-generated box!

Prior to Dracula et al, monsters were much less strongly differentiated. A strigoi was undead and flew around like an owl, was that a vampire? If you turned into a wolf because you got a magic belt from Satan, did that make you a wolf man or a witch?
