Get invested in your own characters. You will always have full control over them. Use Azeroth & Wow's A plot as set dressing for the stories YOU want to tell.

I've said it before, but IMO the best thing you can do in this franchise is get invested in your own character's story because you're insulating yourself against disappointment when there's weird stuff like this happening behind the scenes.
