‘Leather Jacket Love Story’ (1998), dir. David deCoteau.
Before starting college in the fall, a twink moves to Silverlake for the summer ro get his poetry on, but falls in love with an older man who takes him down a raunchy journey of sex & the leather scene.

Up to this point, ‘Leather Jacket Love Story’ is the exception to David DeCoteau’s body of work, schlocky B-movies that he churns out quite quickly. Later on, he’d integrate the gay and vampires and such in his standard fare.
DeCotoeau also worked with director Roger Corman by early in his career .
Christopher Bradley, who portrays the leather man love interest in ‘Leather Jacket Love Story’ also appears as a straight man and boyfriend of Billy’s gal pal George in ‘Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss.’
Clairemont is weird in that it feels like a small city within the city. It’s also an interesting museum of suburbia with the midcentury houses, churches, and post offices.
No real tourist traps, though. Go further south in San Diego for that.

Andrew Haigh’s body of work includes the queer-centric HBO series ‘Looking’ (2014-15) and its follow up ‘Looking: The Movie’ (2016), and the more recent ‘All Of Us Strangers’ (2023).
Other queer film connections include Mink Stole of John Waters fame/notoriety and Worthie Paul Meacham/Momma, who would later have a few seconds of screen time in ‘Date Movie,’ where he skips and dances before making his move towards a cubby guy.
