British parents are almost universally dumb and don't know anything. The parsimonious explanation for why MPs purportedly listen to parents is they, similarly, are dumb and don't know anything, or are exploiting parents who are dumb and don't know anything for paternalistic ends. Pick your poison!

Parents in my constituency told me they wanted a ban on social media for under 16s, & action on gaming and live streaming Implementation will be key, as will ensuring services become safe by design for all But I’m pleased that with today’s announcement, the govt has listened

I’m grateful to the almost 550 people in Oxford East who shared their views about children’s use of social media. I will push for this summary of their views to be implemented. An overwhelming majority want a ban, but insist this must go alongside big changes in how platforms work.
