God have you guys seen that Red Robin commercial with the kids eating the house? Like, theres a dead-eyed preteen girl just eating a handful of drywall and foam insulation as she stares blanky ahead. I hate it. Its weird makes me uncomfortable.
Anatomical/technical drawing skill is obviously vital for a 2d animator but a huge percent of the job is being able to visualize objects in 3d space. 3d animators have the xyz grid so the camera can move independently but 2d animators have only their brain and a flat page, their skill IS the camera.

With any animator you need to study a bit of acting, mime and dance. Animators ARE actors as well as cinematographers, they will obviously have direction from staging/boards but ultimately a final performance is on the single person holding the pencil/mouse
Winsor McCay, the father of western animation, was only able to animate because he studied as a draftsman and trained himself partially by studying architectural design. This helped him understand things like perspective/mass so he could move his drawn characters through 3d space. An insane feat.
Thanks guys im doing some weird ones this year
