someone on tumblr said it better than i could
So, today, they received the benefit of the pay-it-forward kindness & decided, based on what, they witnessed the night before, to cover ANOTHER table.
We started another pay-it-forward chain from an error, "oops" became joyous today, and I'm still smiling.
Kindness is contagious.
The family we treated were apparently dining in a different restaurant last night and they witnessed a
"pay it forward" chain happening in real time.
They witnessed other diners doing that & they were like, 'that's so nice, it would be wonderful to be part of that".
Forgot to say, part of why they were so touched & excited was, when they were witnessing it, they apparently said, "Things like that never happen to us. We'd never have a chance to do that."
Then BOOM, next day. Fate? I don't know. But they were so shocked & kept asking if it was legit/for real. 😂
Anyway, I'm sharing this because it's really easy to get tunnel vision and to see only bad things happening.
But people are out there being good to each other too, taking care of each other as they can.
Dunno if 20+ years as a professional writer means I have anything of value to share but here's my writing tip for the day.
Write the weirdest book you have ever dreamed about. Don't look at anyone else's paper. Crawl down the deepest hole in your brain then twist it more.
Plumb those depths!
So he informed them their bill was paid & they eventually left before we did. We didn't realize there was a dialogue happening, but our server couldn't come back to us until the table whose bill we paid had left.
Here's where the story gets really touching and should make you smile.
Storytime: joy version.
Today I was at lunch with my family. My cousin was treating us. There was a mixup with the bill and he ended up paying for someone else's table.
After talking it over, we decided we -wanted- to do that. To cover their bill also. We asked the waiter not to say who.
