Now granted, it’s not about fertility rates but still about the tendency to link smartphones to literally every social development:
FISS is unique in its global reach. Today, we concluded our 32nd conference, which brought together participants from all over the world in a small Swedish town to discuss ongoing research and development in the field of social security and the welfare state.
I am grateful to become the new chair of FISS – the Foundation for International Studies on Social Security. 🙏 I'm succeeding Bea Cantillon; big shoes to fill. Our aim remains unchanged: create a venue where scholars from across the globe meet in an atmosphere that fosters a sense of community.

In today's academic environment, it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to have a place where junior and senior researchers from different parts of the world can meet in a convivial atmosphere. It makes us all better researchers.
