at least theres no recent history of america having an initial military victory that became a bogged down occupation that sucked up life and treasure.

I have no doubt the US military can take Kharg Island. OK, but then what? It's an island surrounded by mountainous terrain that's perfect for nonstop hit-and-run drone strikes. Our troops will be sitting ducks.
