I'm happy I wrote that piece, but I don't have any energy left to reach out to folks that want to make art solely within a system that no longer supports it. If you want to program lootboxes for Epic then go with god, it's not my problem.
narf action games showcase some of the funnest and most thougtful boss design in the biz.. do not underestimate

A huge number of writers in the 20th century could make a living wage selling short stories to magazines. That period is Over, it's not coming back, the market is no longer there. Should we stop writing short stories forever, then? Is there any point now that the capital's dried up?
"It is easier and more fulfilling to show me who you are than it is to try and triangulate who you think I want you to be." perfect, exquisite, no notes

I don't see a path forward to the games industry getting any less rotten, tasteless, or centralized any time soon. At this point I consider it more or less divorced from the happy accidents of capital that allowed many thousands of people to make a living making interesting art for 30-40 years.
manifesto jam seems really fun but I don't have any very specific/shitpost ideas and in terms of broad "making art in games" thoughts I still stand by this piece from three years ago farawaytimes.blogspot.com/2023/02/how-...
