I decided that if I was going to write about Spielberg, I was going to at least try to say something that hasn’t been said a thousand times before. War of the Worlds is about aliens (yawn) and divorce (double yawn) but it’s also about this, which turns out to be highly relevant to Disclosure Day.

what clicked this into place for me was the bit in Crystal Skull where Cate Blanchett screams “I want to know!” right before that knowledge obliterates her
It is funny to think of Spielberg writing Disclosure Day right after The Fabelmans and going “you know what, a train hitting a car really *is* cool”
