New in PN: The murder of expertise "The Trump administration has spent 18 months gutting funding for scientific research, forcing out nonpartisan experts, and elevating the most alarming conspiracy theorists in their stead. Now, a new rule proposed by the regime is threatening science itself."

I am reminded again to tell my members of Congress to #ImpeachMullin and #ImpeachVance. And also how JD Vance is so racist that he wants to bring back lines from the Plantation of Ulster.
It remains way past time for the US government to make SpaceX getting any more launch contracts conditional on Elon Musk being removed from any role with the company. Make the majority shareholders choose between Musk and their money.

González Picos+ on “The carbon isotope ratio of β Pic b with high-resolution spectroscopy” showing values consistent with the ISM and below Solar levels. Comparison with different exoplanets shows no significant trend with orbital distance or mass of the exoplanet. #astrodon #exoplanets 🔭
The strong collective response of the science community to the proposed OMB rule has demonstrated the broad unity that’s possible when we all work together. We'd do well to apply this same level of activation to the larger assaults on science and democracy. My new post: blog.ucs.org/gretchen-gol...
Welcome to #RubinInFocus: a new series exploring the complex tech behind the NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory! 🔭🧪 First up: this sci-fi-looking structure is Rubin's giant calibration screen. But what does a giant glowing wall actually do in an observatory? 👇 🧵
