Anyways, whether or not I should, I still believe in the free-webcomic buy-tpb model, so here, check out my current bid for a career on Patreon. Most stuff is free to read, and there’s a lot of it, old and new.

I struggled and struggled to make FINDER work in 1-page gulps, never got there, finally gave up. 8-pagers for DARK HORSE PRESENTS was much better, but I couldn’t do that weekly. I eventually burnt to a crisp like Linda Hamilton against a chain link fence, and now I find that 3 pages is a sweet spot.

All the game-themed comics like PvP were newspaper-strip-style. GIRLS WITH SLINGSHOTS was a strip comic. GUNNERKRIGG COURT wasn’t, but Tom started that epic with little table-setting short stories, which is more like what would happen later in cartoons like ADVENTURE TIME.

I missed most of the early stuff, Modern Tales and such, beinv a Luddite. Comics written to be read as books were starting to post one page three times a week, and Phil Foglio’s GIRL GENIUS read really well that way. Probably because he started as a one-page cartoonist in DRAGON MAGAZINE.
