19/30. Theatre of Hate, “Do You Believe In The Westworld?” (1982)
Not heard this in decades!

The plot seems to be about a revolt against high taxes in a fictional city and, like most of their musicals, uses allegory to explore themes of governance, conflict and the ultimate triumph of community resilience. Held my attention despite my not understanding any of the lyrics or dialogue.

Fairuz and Assi & Mansour Rahbani, ‘Natoret El Mafateeh (The Guardian of the Keys)’ (1972)
One of many Fairuz-Rahbani musicals/operettas, this one debuting shortly after F’s international breakthrough. I listened to the 90 min version on streaming - includes all the dialogue.

"A generation who ruled the nation with version."
This a beautifully written and, in places, very moving review.
Heartfelt thanks both to Wrongtom and The Quietus.
Thank you @nzmolecules.bsky.social
This one feels like it was made a lifetime ago, but I’m still very proud of it! Still available via @subexotic.bsky.social 🙏❤️

We're currently readying our next album proper
These tracks have come about from those sessions but don't really fit anywhere
They're far too lovely to let rot in external HD purgatory
So here they are - pay what you like - grab them for free - steal this album
