I have the Rode Go mics through work. They work as lavs, but theres a separate attachment to use them as a handheld news-looking mic. The handheld mode ALWAYS sounds better, and not everyone is going to shell out the extra money for that

But no, lav mics are very annoying to use, particularly in inexperienced hands. I’d never recommend a new YouTuber buy one. YouTubers hold them because their audio sounds like ruffling clothes otherwise
