My statement on the Motion of Regret regarding the EHRC Code of Practice.

This is the 2nd most signed Early Day Motion in the last year. At 118 supporters, that's 24% of all MPs eligible to sign EDMs or 30% of all MPs who've ever signed an EDM. Write to your MP and ask them to sign. This is not an empty gesture but the sole mechanism to block the harmful guidance. #EDM240
The EHRC head herself, no friend of trans people, repeatedly said that the previous understanding of the law worked just fine! Let’s go back to that and work from there!
To the other MPs (and EHRC head) who have suggested rejecting it is pointless because the law will remain the same; I’d counter by saying rejecting it is the best way to force the government to amend the law to its previous interpretation. Government needs to do its job.
