I see this possibly starting to break containment, so I also want to add one point - if you can't include or grapple with the experiences of people in a (semi-)historical setting, please consider that it might not be your story to tell.

So, the other thing that has been burning a hole in my head lately:
Pirate Borg drives me crazy.
I hate that it uses the Carribean (sorry "the Dark Carribean, ughhh"), without really talking about the indigenous ppl (all gone when we got there!) or chatel slavery, both of which are important.
