This is Javier Calzada, a Denver resident who immigrated from Mexico 27 years ago. He walked the line between riot cops and protesters throughout the night, urging people to keep the peace.
"We don't support the attacks on our community," he told me. "We're here to protect ourselves."
Programs at some Colorado museums and libraries were put in jeopardy after actions from President Trump to shutter the Institute of Museum and Library Services, threatening the federal funding the organizations often rely on to advance their operations and research.
