In slush reading I see folks trying to write LitRPG short stories. But one of the fundamental tenents about the LitRPG genre is progression. Achievement unlocked, level up, etc. Short stories aren't usually long enough to pull this off in a satisfying way, and it ends up hurting the narrative.
