I've been relatively quiet on this account over the past week because I've been wanting to give myself a bit of space from Magic for the moment after the news about the trans staff on the MTG Arena getting deadnamed en masse got out (1/2)
I'm otherwise very disinterested in talking about Magic: The Product right now, but an IRL friend of mine reminded me about the Global Series decks this morning, and like, I would have loved to see another crack taken at this.
Incredibly cool stuff, even if the individual cards were largely ho-hum
Why do some Universes Beyond sets capture the soul of Magic and others don't? I think I finally figured it out.

That, the fallout from that news breaking here, and some other IRL stressers, gave me a bit of mental and emotional whiplash. All of that left me with a lot to think about regarding my engagement with Magic as a game, product, and fan (2/3)
