You know the Colorado GOP is irrelevant when they can only come up with these wackadoodle candidates.
Nice little trail run to Parleys Pointe
A couple more - “door zone” painted bike lanes. Rest in Power, Riley O’Neil - painted bike lanes that are regularly used as car parking or as school pick up lanes You get the sense that it’s mostly about paint only and a lack of protection. Protected lanes or grade separated trails are used
And let’s not even talk about “sharrows”…
Beyond gutter size bike lanes, here are other reasons why they aren’t used: - painted lanes along a busy, dangerous road - lanes disconnected from a network - lanes going to no meaningful destination (eg in industrial areas) - some painted lanes in very low density residential areas
Kudos to SLC Public Lands for resuming the build out of the foothills trail system despite opposition. New gently graded trails are important not only for mountain biking but also for making hiking more accessible to people of all abilities

The tragic reality of homelessness can also involve wildfires that start in encampments. Most urban issues are connected, and getting unhoused people into stable homes can also mean fewer wildfires
And the pause in the trail rollout has taken forever. We’ll see how much funding is available now that SLC is facing budget shortfalls

There are absolutely bike lanes that are not heavily used. But the correct response is to analyze why they're not being used, instead of saying, "Let's rip them out!" It turns out that a strip of a paint on an otherwise busy road doesn't make people feel safe and make them want to bike.
