I was grumpy that IB credits only counted towards electives (which I had my own ideas for) at UChicago in the 00's, but now I respect that position.
At the same time, I had some excellent IB teachers in HS & meh Core instructors in college and suspect I actually got more out of IB than the Core.

In theory, "advanced placement" course in high schools are meant to give students a head start on college-level work, but in practice these courses serve as *replacements* for that college-level work, and very poor ones at that.
