/ total eclipse of the heart but it’s maegor before losing his brother
— maegor targaryen, second of his name, died on the second day of the eleventh moon, 130 AC. two weeks after the death of queen rhaenyra. alone, rotting, driven mad by grief.
— ‘𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴. 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘩𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘴‘ never eating, never moving from the corner of his cell. although rumors and stories have been muddled over time, guards still speak of the cursed dragon prince’s final moments, not incoherent muttering of things he had learned long ago… but a name. 𝘳𝘩𝘢𝘦𝘯𝘺𝘳𝘢. —
— rot set into the wound on his face quickly, eating away at the still raw flesh, spreading up into his eye eating that too. rumors have stated that witnessing her death broke the prince and drove him mad. guards spoke of his mad muttering, only repeating the same words for hours on end. —
the dance left maegor with an injury unable to heal, even with maesters, apothecaries, and healers tending to him at all hours. the gash across his cheek left his teeth exposed, his eye suffered a blinding cut, though it did not completely remove the eye what was left of it was a split milky —
— when the queen was betrayed he was present for her death, forced to watch her burn and be eaten by the usurpers dragon with no way of trying to stop it. with the queen dead maegor was thrown into a cell to rot, or await his own execution. death didn’t come for him, neither did a headsman. —
— marble he had no use of. maesters worked consistently to keep rot from setting into the open wound. maegor suffered but did not let it interfere with his duties as royal protector, working through his pain throughout rhaenyra’s short reign. —
