Had to open a Microsoft Sharepoint document shared with me in Chrome instead of Firefox since it acted up weirdly.
In Chrome it works well.
The narrative that Safari is the new IE misses what lead to IE being the way it was:
Its dominance resulted in pages being made for it rather than the web.
